Life Is Like A Snapshot.

I just submitted my last assignment for this semester. I am feeling relieved at the moment, having a celebratory glass of wine and cleaning my apartment for the first time in six weeks. Seriously, my place does not look fresh. Three years ago I quit my job as a flight attendant and decided it was time to reevaluate and come up with a five-year plan. Five -year plan? Flight attendants make very little money and the schedule doesn’t allow much time to travel, particularly for new flight attendants who are always on reserve.  My decision to study public relations was absolutely the right one.  The PR approach is one that comes naturally for me in my daily life. It's premised on constant dialogue and feedback that bridges audiences from conversation to some involvement. I am fascinated by messages and imaging that can penetrate our conscience and change attitudes and behaviors--especially when it comes to matters that impact the world and our communities in a positive and economically healthy way.

Life throws some ridiculous curve balls that get in the way of incisiveness, so after years of vacillating, I made the leap and went back to school.  Cheers to me.

This time last year I was planning a three week stay in Park City, Utah over my Christmas break. A friend of mine had recently moved there, and she needed some help babysitting her two-year old.  So much has changed in  just 12 months. Thanksgiving has come and gone, and I had another birthday on Tuesday.

This year I am planning a trip to Edinburgh to visit my friend Vicki, a girl I met in Thailand in 2008. She was teaching in Phuket, and like me, decided she needed to return home and finish Uni. I am looking forward to this respite. I’ve never been to Scotland, but I am sure I will dig eating, walking and drinking pints with Vicki.

A flight attendant friend of mine is hooking me up with a buddy pass. Unfortunately, Delta no longer flies to EDI, so I will have to stop off in Dublin. I am considering staying a night there if I cannot arrange a connection the day I arrive.I bought a camera last week for my trip, nothing too fancy. I am saving for a really nice camera and looking forward to picking up photography again. I used to play around with film. I like the idea of being in control of documenting things the way I see them. I think I let other people see things for me far too often, so in other words, be on the lookout for some snapshots from Scotland.
That’s all for now.
Chowder, cause it’s cold!
